IMPACT Trade Project

As a supporter of the Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) IMPACT Trade Project, SMC works with Duquesne University to help manufacturers gain a foothold in the Pacific Alliance, a Latin American trade bloc comprising Chile, Peru, Columbia, Costa Rico, and Mexico.

Golf Outings

The SMC Business Councils Golf Outing Series is one of our most popular events. SMC members and their guests have the opportunity to casually network while enjoying the excitement of a four-person shotgun start. Some of the proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania Small Business Educational Fund (PASBEF), which hosts STEM-related programming for children in 7th and 8th grades.

Nights at the Ballpark

Join SMC as we cheer on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Harrisburg Senators. Hosted each year, SMC and over 200 members and guests enjoy pre-game festivities and then settle in to watch the Pirates and Senators from our seats in PNC Park and Metro Bank Park respectively!

Grassroots Lobbying Trips

Participate with other SMC members at our grassroots lobbying trips to Harrisburg and Washington. Our policy agenda is created by the membership, approved by the board and presented to our elected officials.

SMC Annual Legislative Reception

Join us at the Rivers Club, downtown Pittsburgh, for our Annual Legislative Reception. Open exclusively to SMC members and guests, this is a great opportunity to meet the lawmakers that impact our businesses and hobnob with the membership at a cocktail reception.

Holiday Party

Get a jump start on the holiday merriment and join SMC Business Councils at our annual Holiday Party on November 17, 2016 in Harrisburg and December 1, 2016 in Pittsburgh.

MFG Day is a national celebration of modern manufacturing with events held October each year.  Keep watch on our calendar as we showcase the events SMC and our manufacturing members and partners put on to display our region’s manufacturing expertise and strength.

National Small Business Week

National Small Business Week is an event of the U.S. Small Business Administration.  SMC Business Council has traditionally celebrated with a roundtable discussion and a meet & greet, where members have the opportunity to talk with local business and government leaders and regional representatives of the SBA. Small Business Week is May 1-7 in 2016.

Open Houses

SMC Business Councils conducts a minimum of four Open Houses a year when members can mingle with SMC leadership, board and committee members; network with peers; and learn more about SMC member benefits.

Take the Word of One of Our Members

I recently became a member of SMC Business Councils. I will admit that initially it was for the networking opportunities. However, after starting with my membership, I realized SMC has so much more to offer my company. In particular, I have been using SMC’s office and training room. These are free to SMC members and offer a professional presence to my business. But it’s not just about these rooms. It’s also how special I’ve been treated by SMC staff during those times I have used the rooms. As time rolls on, I look forward to building our relationship together. SMC is top notch, and I look forward to many years them.Dan Hudock
